The E299 machine tap from Dormer is a "Yellow Shark" tap. The "Shark Line" of taps all have a colour coded ring on the shank so you can easily see which material the tap should be used to thread. The yellow ring on the E299 means the tap is suitable for threading low alloy steels such as leaded steel, structural and magnetic soft steel. The E299 has a spiral point, designed to thread pre-drilled holes which go all the way through the work piece whilst the chrome nitride coating will ensure clean, accurate threads by preventing work piece material from sticking to the cutting edges of the tool. The E299 is made from powder metal High Speed cobalt for superior performance and extended tool life, and is manufactured to conform to the German Institute for Standardization. The E299 comes in a size range from M4 to M30 for metric coarse threads.
