Every circle on this tokkuri tells you something good is coming. This hand-painted Japanese sake decanter is covered in vibrant traditional symbols, each rendered in a circular medallion with gold accents and raised moriage detailing on the cherry blossoms — a vessel that is quite literally decorated with well wishes for its owner.
The symbols, once you know what they mean, make this one of the most meaningful gifts in the shop. Yukiwa — the blue circle — is a "good sign," a promise that something wonderful is on its way. Hishi — the circle with red and green diamonds — stands for generativity, caring for the elderly and the children, and prosperity. Cherry Blossoms represent new beginnings. The Pines symbolize auspiciousness — promising success, opportunity, and a prosperous future. And what appears to be Bamboo speaks to resilience and strength.
Together they make this tokkuri a vessel of pure good fortune — and one of the most thoughtful gifts you could give to someone embarking on a new chapter. It is marked on the bottom with a traditional red square stamp, though the maker remains unidentified. In excellent condition — no chips, cracks, or scratches.
A wonderful gift for a sake lover, a Japan enthusiast, or anyone who appreciates the beauty and depth of Japanese decorative arts. Equally at home on a bar, a bookshelf, or a meditation space.
